    Assignment Details:
    The position will work at three different locations:
    Clear Springs and Groveland Elementary Schools, and Tonka Online K-8.

    Compensation:
    This assignment, if filled externally, will be paid starting as a Reserve Teacher, due to being less than 30 duty days, per the Reserve Teacher Handbook
    Current Contracted part-time Counselors will be paid their Contracted hourly rate.
    Should the position turn into a long term sub eligible assignment, the position will become eligible for contracted salary compensation:

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement social/emotional/behavioral interventions with students on an individual and/or small group basis including counseling and providing crisis intervention services as needed.

    Implement Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions including: family change, friendship, emotional and self-regulation groups, and others determined by student need for non-SPED students.
  • Support implementation of RTI (Response to Intervention) specific to social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students.
  • Support teachers in the development of classroom-based Tier 1 interventions.
  • Implement Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions including: family change, friendship, ADHD groups, and others determined by student need for non-SPED students.
  • Conductdevelopmental guidance lessons in classroom settings, as planned in conjunction with the student support team, classroom teachers, and/or District-level barrier work--student well-being work and district emotional health standards.
  • Analyze school site and district social/emotional data where applicable; create, and implement site-based interventions in conjunction with building support for teachers and principal.
  • Assist non-SPED families to better understand the school and its programs and to strengthen the communication link between school and home.
  • A liason to administrators, teachers, and families in identifying referrrals to outside support agencies.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
  • Specific Responsibilities:

  • Help students both directly and indirectly with their educational, personal, social, emotional, or career oriented needs; it may be part of the guidance curriculum, individual planning, responsive services, system support or, in many cases, a blend of those factors.
  • Serve on student support team.
  • Focus on identified aspects of school barriers as a result of the annual student survey and/or school-wide social/emotional data (where available).
  • Provide orientation activities to incoming kindergartners and other new students.
  • Assist new students entering school after the school year begins.
  • Assist in the coordination of standardized and District/local assessment programs as needed.
  • Knowledge and Skills:

    1. Demonstrated ability to apply appropriate skills in performing daily routines.
    2. Demonstrated ability to operate a computer, software and necessary classroom technology.
    3. Ability to develop effective and positive working relationships with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community.
    4. Maintain professional composure while dealing with a variety of personalities and situations.
    5. Show initiative and function as a self-starter.
    6. Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey

    information and to receive work direction.
