2026-27 Grade 1 Spanish Immersion Teacher, 1.0 FTE
Position TypeElementary School Teaching / Grade 1 - Spanish Immersion
Qualifications- Minnesota K-6 or 1-6 Elementary Education Teaching License or qualification for a Minnesota teaching license.
- Native or near native fluency in Spanish; advanced rating under ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines.
- English language proficiency for communication with parents.
- Successful experience with Total Physical Response (TPR) methodology in immersion programs.
- Ability to develop lesson plans, instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction adjusting the District approved curriculum to meet each pupil’s needs.
- Ability to translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
- Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth; maintain appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
- Identify pupil needs, make referrals, develop strategies for individual education plans.
- Communicate with parents using Schoology, newsletters, phone calls, e‑mails, conferences, etc.
- Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors.
- Maintain and improve professional skills through meetings, PLCs, coursework, workshops, and seminars.
- Integrate technology into instruction.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
- Collaborative work in a fast‑paced environment interacting with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community with multiple requests and concerns.
- Support and communicate with other administrators and staff.
- Respond in emergency situations.
- Know, interpret, and follow school District policies.
- Plan and coordinate the work of paraprofessionals and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
- Provide input to the goal‑setting process for paraprofessionals.
- Demonstrated successful experience in an immersion program preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to apply appropriate skills in performing daily routines.
- Proficient in operating a computer, software, and necessary classroom technology.
- Develop effective and positive working relationships with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community.
- Maintain professional composure while dealing with a variety of personalities and situations.
- Show initiative and function as a self‑starter.
- Effectively communicate and have interpersonal skills to exchange information and receive work direction.
