2026 Summer EL/ESL Program Teacher ()
Location:
Excelsior United Methodist Church
Dates: 7/7/26 – 7/30/26
Days of the Week:
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Hours:
9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Compensation: Current Minnetonka Teachers: contract equivalent hourly rate. New Hires:
Summer Pay Rate per the CBA.
- Plan instruction and other student support activities, including the establishment of overall goals and priorities.
- Provide instruction to students in a manner that incorporates essential elements of instruction, uses techniques to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly, and correctly employs various principles of teaching.
- Develop lesson plans as applicable to the teacher’s assignment, ensuring they address student needs and required supports.
- Review, select, and modify materials and resources consistent with instructional objectives.
- Provide appropriate and specialized instructional materials.
- Establish and maintain student discipline by communicating expectations for appropriate behavior; provide structure and consistency, and encourage student responsibility, cooperation, and mutual respect.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
- Previous small group teaching experience preferred, including teaching reading and math.
- Previous experience working with differentiation and motivating students from a range of learning backgrounds.
- Collaborative work in a fast-paced environment interacting with students, staff, administrators, parents, and community members.
- Support and communicate with other administrators and staff.
- Respond in emergency situations.
- Know, interpret, and follow school district policies.
- Preferred experience working with English Learners and youth summer programs.
- Demonstrated ability to apply appropriate skills in performing daily routines.
- Ability to operate a computer, software, and necessary classroom technology.
- Ability to develop effective and positive working relationships with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community.
- Maintain professional composure while dealing with a variety of personalities and situations.
- Show initiative and function as a self‑starter.
- Effectively communicate and have interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, and the general public.
