Special Education Department

Responsibilities
  • Conduct and carry out due process actions related to student evaluations
  • Collect and complete written evaluation reports
  • Conduct required testing/protocols for special education evaluations
  • Collaborate with special education and general education teachers to understand environmental influences on students being assessed
  • Maintain appropriate student data and other records and submit reports as required
  • Maintain materials and/or manual and electronic files/records for the purpose of ensuring availability of items and meeting mandated requirements
  • In cooperation with the 504 Coordinator, classroom teachers, and Director of Special Services, support the 504 process as needed
  • Promote a problem‑solving process with teachers and other staff for capacity building and child‑find
  • Research evidence‑based practices to provide solutions in the problem‑solving process
  • Communicate effectively with assigned teachers or staff to promote continuous improvement of individual student goals
  • Perform other comparable duties of a similar nature as apparent or assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and applicable MN teaching license
