Water Resources Staff Engineer
Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks a Water Resources Staff Engineer to join our Renewables team in St. Cloud‑MN, Minnetonka‑MN, or Englewood‑CO. The role supports permitting, design, and construction of solar, wind, and battery storage projects nationwide, coordinating with Civil and Water Resources Engineers to protect projects from flooding and meet storm‑water regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Perform stormwater modeling, floodplain analysis, and hydraulic design for renewable energy projects.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to produce quality designs for solar, wind, and battery storage projects across the country.
- Use industry leading software such as FLO2D, AutoCAD, Global Mapper, HEC‑RAS, and Arc Pro to develop innovative designs.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, reports, and communication with public agencies, clients, and peers.
- Support the entire project lifecycle from permitting and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling to detailed report preparation.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field; recent graduates or professionals with 0‑4 years of experience are encouraged to apply.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PDF editing tools, and technical writing.
- Strong foundation in advanced modeling software and the ability to apply it to complex engineering challenges.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with clients, peers, and public‑agency staff.
Position details:
Full‑time, in‑office. No supervisory responsibilities, but offers a clear path for professional development within a supportive team environment.
