Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer applies strong technical skills and knowledge of manufacturing operations to lead and execute complex engineering tasks. This role requires proactive problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to drive improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

Responsibilities

+ Lead and take ownership of complex manufacturing engineering tasks that may involve multiple interrelated elements.

+ Anticipate and identify key technical issues, develop recommendations and solutions even when no precedent exists.

+ Apply creative thinking and introduce new methods or approaches to resolve problems.

+ Evaluate and consider impacts on related systems, equipment, and processes when implementing changes.

+ Collaborate with peers, technicians, and mentors through reviews of technical rationale, verification, and validation activities.

+ Support manufacturing operations by troubleshooting issues, improving processes, and optimizing equipment performance.

+ Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives including 5S, A3 problem solving, standard work, waste reduction, and efficiency projects.

+ Ensure alignment with business objectives and maintain understanding of company operations and manufacturing environment.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Software, or related discipline).

+ 0-5 years of experience in an engineering role or equivalent advanced education.

+ Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.

+ Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively across teams.

+ Demonstrated ability to lead tasks independently and drive results.

Skills & Qualifications

+ Soft skills are critical: strong communication skills, coachable, open to feedback, and able to collaborate across teams.

+ Learn quickly and willing to put in the work.

+ Comfortable interacting with people at all levels.

+ Internships or manufacturing exposure are a big plus.

+ Candidates should not have excessive short job stints.

+ Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments (e.g., regulated industries like medical devices, aerospace, or large-scale factory production preferred).

+ 3-4 years of experience is the ideal range.

Work Environment

This role involves spending a significant amount of time on the manufacturing floor, with 60% of the time requiring compliance with PPE standards. The work is dynamic, with new issues arising daily. Shift flexibility is strongly preferred, ideally open to both 1st and 2nd shifts. The position is non-exempt, and overtime is paid at time-and-a-half for hours worked over 40. The role offers a chance for conversion in 6-12 months depending on performance and business needs.

This role is not sponsorship-eligible. Local candidates are preferred, and there is a high urgency for these roles.

This is a Contract position based out of Minnetonka, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $40.00/hr.
