Our client is a growing commercial General Contractor anticipating approximately 40% year-over-year revenue growth. As a strictly GC organization, financial clarity, WIP discipline, and cash control are mission-critical. This is a leadership opportunity for a construction accounting professional who has successfully operated in a growth-oriented construction environment and can bring structure, proactive financial insight, and process discipline to support continued expansion.
Reporting directly to the President, the Controller will own monthly close execution, job-cost integrity, contract financial risk review, and working capital management while developing the accounting team.
- Execute and maintain a disciplined monthly close process by the 9th business day, delivering accurate financial statements with clear variance analysis.
- Own WIP reporting, percent-complete revenue recognition, cost-to-complete validation, margin analysis, and over/under billing accuracy.
- Drive 13-week rolling cash forecasts, AR/collections oversight, AP timing strategy, and overall working capital optimization.
- Review and manage AIA and client contract agreements, assessing financial risk exposure (retainage, payment terms, change orders, LDs, insurance, dispute provisions) and aligning terms with internal controls.
- Partner with Operations and Project Managers to improve forecasting accuracy, job cost discipline, and proactive identification of project risk.
- Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team while building a high-ownership, growth-oriented culture.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred or strong equivalent construction accounting experience.
- 8+ years progressive accounting experience with direct General Contractor construction accounting leadership required.
- Demonstrated ownership of WIP reporting, job cost accounting, cost-to-complete forecasting, and disciplined monthly close processes.
- Strong cash management experience including rolling cash forecasts and working capital oversight in a project-based environment.
- Proven experience reviewing and executing AIA contracts and managing financial risk exposure in commercial construction agreements.
- Leadership experience partnering cross-functionally with Operations and developing accounting staff.
- Competitive base salary of $140,000
