Job Responsibilities:

Perform routine and project cleaning of assigned classrooms, offices, and corridors, including tasks such as emptying waste receptacles, vacuuming or sweeping floors, cleaning sinks and fountains, and maintaining furniture and floors.

Coordinate, schedule, and supervise custodial staff for project cleaning and building use, ensuring facilities are accessible and needs are met.

Clean and disinfect lavatories and locker rooms, maintain dispensers, and ensure odor control.

Perform minor maintenance duties, including cleaning and lubricating equipment, changing filters, light bulbs, and performing small repairs.

Secure the facility by locking windows and doors, operating security lights, and activating alarms.

Maintain exterior areas, including lawn care, cleaning windows, and ensuring walkways are clear of ice and snow.

Operate various equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, carpet extractors, pressure washers, and lawn equipment.

Report repairs needed to the head custodian.

Supervise custodial staff during the second shift, including inspecting work, training, and performance reviews.

Attend district-provided leadership training and communicate with the head custodian.

Manage building security, including locking up at night and checking building systems such as heating, cooling, ventilation, and safety systems.

Possess or obtain a special engineer boiler operator's license within 6 months.

Demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills, organizational ability, and customer service orientation.

Complete a physical capabilities examination as required.

Work Details:

8 hours per day, 12 months per year, from 2:30 to 11:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Wages and Benefits:

Minimum base pay: $23.34/hour (Class I, Step I, with $2.00/hour differential)

Shift differential: $0.45/hour for second shift

Custodian and Maintenance Master Agreement

Qualifications:

Possess or be able to obtain a special engineer boiler operator's license within 6 months.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong organizational skills and record-keeping abilities.
Accurate mathematical skills.
Customer service-oriented with positive interpersonal skills.
Ability to pass a physical capabilities exam.
