Project Manager/Engineer - Transportation
Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Transportation Project Manager to join our team. We are expanding services in Wisconsin with offices in Minnetonka (MN), Appleton (WI), and Madison (WI). Our ideal candidate will have 8+ years of diverse roadway design experience, DOT background, and project management expertise.
Duties and Responsibilities- Manage the design and delivery of multidiscipline projects profitably.
- Oversee technical aspects of various projects.
- Supervise engineers and technical support personnel.
- Develop project work plans, budget projections, and deploy resources.
- Review and act on business metrics including utilization, backlog, work in process, and account receivables.
- Prepare, maintain, and coordinate schedules of multiple concurrent projects.
- Develop and track milestones to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Complete monthly project accounting and invoicing.
- Implement and maintain QA/QC procedures.
- Coordinate with other disciplines, support services, and subconsultants.
- Coordinate with government agencies, utility providers, or other outside agencies.
- Represent clients and firm in meetings with governmental agencies.
- Write proposals and participate in or lead interviews.
- Grow, mentor, and train staff.
- Build relationships internally and externally with clients and strategic partners.
- Lead business development activities.
- Negotiate contract terms and conditions with clients and governmental entities.
- Ensure division, regional, and company values, policies, and practices are consistently followed.
- Lead by example – display solid judgment, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalism.
- Outgoing, friendly, approachable.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to manage staff and direct resources effectively.
- Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex transportation design projects profitably.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects under the WisDOT delivery process.
- Extensive knowledge of geometric design and other related design elements.
- Knowledge and experience with the full roadway project lifecycle from preliminary studies through final design.
- Track record of successfully winning and delivering projects.
- Experience developing and implementing marketing pursuit strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with peers, clients, and public agency staff.
- Ability to coach and motivate others.
- Detail-oriented but also flexible enough to be big picture/conceptual.
- BS in Civil Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Civil Engineer (PE) in WI and/or MN (or capable of obtaining within 6 months).
- 8+ years of progressive experience in transportation design and project management.
