Job Title

MRO Inventory Specialist

Key Responsibilities
  • Inventory Creation:
    • Clean and sort, grouping similar items together, remove any obsolete or damaged items.
    • Cataloging and system development following a standardized naming convention for all parts. Develop categories and sub categories for easy classification.
    • Data entry and management: input all part information into the CMMS system. Include details such as part number, description, technical specifications, manufacturer, location, quantity, and reorder points.
    • Physical reorganization of storerooms, creating efficient layouts, implementing appropriate storage solutions (e.g., bins, shelves, cabinets). Arrange parts based on usage frequency, size, or other relevant criteria.
    • Label and identify areas with signage for ease of use by end users. Ensure all parts are properly tagged with their unique identifiers.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Monitor MRO inventory levels to identify stock shortages and potential stockouts.
    • Generate purchase requisitions for MRO supplies based on predetermined reorder points.
    • Receive items into the Maximo inventory for restocking and kitting.
    • Maintain proper storage and organization of MRO inventory within the warehouse or designated storage areas.
    • Conduct regular physical inventory counts to ensure accuracy of stock levels.
  • Kitting:
    • The storeroom staff picks the required parts from inventory that have been planned to the work orders.
    • The kit is checked for accuracy to ensure all necessary items are present and in the correct quantities.
    • The completed kit is placed in a designated staging area, readily accessible to the maintenance technician.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Analyze MRO usage data to identify trends and opportunities for cost optimization.
    • Generate inventory reports on stock levels, usage patterns, and potential cost savings.
    • Track supplier performance and identify potential cost‑saving opportunities with vendors.
  • System Administration:
    • Utilize inventory management software to track MRO inventory levels and generate reports.
    • Maintain accurate data within the inventory system, including item descriptions, stock codes, and supplier information.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma / GED.
  • Strong understanding of procurement principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of MRO categories, including maintenance parts, repair supplies, and operational consumables.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills to interact with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and ERP systems.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate data and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Desired
  • Experience or training in inventory management or MRO operations.
  • Familiarity with basic maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Previous experience in a supportive role.
  • Knowledge of fundamental inventory management practices, with an emphasis on maintaining an organized and efficient storeroom to support the reliability of plant operations.
  • Familiarity with Reliability‑Centered Stocking (RCS) concepts to optimize inventory levels and ensure high availability of critical spares, balancing cost and space constraints with the need for operational readiness.

  • Compensation - The salary range is tied to the market for similarly benchmarked roles. The range is a guide; offers may vary based on individual candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions: $22–27/hr.
