The Production Supervisor (PDU Cables) is responsible for leading day‑to‑day shift production operations, employee performance, safety, quality, training, scheduling coordination, and continuous improvement for PDU cable manufacturing at the assigned Minnesota or Iowa location. This role provides direct leadership for one production shift and partners closely with cross-functional teams across the organization, including but not limited to Manufacturing, Engineering, Scheduling, Quality, Human Resources, and other support teams, to ensure customer orders are built safely, accurately, efficiently, and on time.
The company intends to assign one Production Supervisor to each shift to provide consistent leadership coverage throughout production hours.
- Supervise manufacturing employees within the assigned PDU Cables shift and location, generally overseeing approximately 15-30 employees depending on staffing levels, product mix, and business needs.
- Provide visible, consistent shift leadership by setting daily expectations, assigning work, monitoring productivity, addressing barriers, and ensuring smooth handoffs between shifts.
- Oversee production of PDU cable assemblies, including line readiness, work order prioritization, material availability, tooling, labeling, testing requirements, quality checkpoints, packaging, and shipment readiness.
- Monitor production schedules, labor capacity, customer priority orders, and material constraints; partner with Scheduling, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Manufacturing leadership to resolve issues quickly.
- Maintain, monitor, and improve production processes, safety requirements, equipment, fixtures, tools, and work instructions within the assigned PDU Cables area.
- Ensure employees follow documented build instructions, customer specifications, electrical safety requirements, quality standards, and proper handling practices for cable assemblies and related components.
- Create, implement, and maintain effective on-the-job training for employees, including safe tool use, assembly methods, inspection expectations, ERP transactions, quality procedures, and cross‑training needs.
- Work with Human Resources and Manufacturing leadership to support staffing needs, onboarding, attendance management, employee relations, performance coaching, corrective action, and retention efforts.
- Monitor labor costs, attendance, overtime, timecards, labor allocation, and staffing coverage to support business needs while maintaining accountability and consistency.
