Hourly Full Time Non Exempt Supervisor

Requisition

Salary Range: $28.85 to $35.00 per hour

Shift: AM Shift – Hours may vary based on business demand, staffing, and departmental coverage needs. Typical start time is 6:30 am.

Position Summary

The Warehouse Supervisor directs the shipping process to ensure that all customer orders are pulled, packed, and shipped according to the customer’s required shipping date. Responsibilities also include overseeing the daily cycle counting of the entire inventory, managing related cycle‑counting processes, and supervising the following positions and their corresponding job functions:
Material Handlers, Receiving Clerks, Inventory Clerks, Shipping Lead, and other roles as assigned or developed within the department. The role requires supervising staffing levels and collaborating with HR and management to conduct interviews, hire, promote, review, and discipline employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Supervise the following positions and related job functions:
    Shipping Lead, Material Handlers, Receiving Clerks, Inventory Clerks, and Warehouse Clerks.
  • Monitor daily activities of employees and ensure workload for each area is covered, reallocating duties as needed.
  • Oversee all processes, policies, and procedures within the department for compliance.
  • Oversee product quality aspects related to inventory, storage, packing, handling, and shipping.
  • Manage freight company pricing and contracts, ensuring carriers meet or exceed delivery and customer‑service expectations.
  • Run reports from the ERP system (e.g., Daily Cycle Count Report).
  • Perform cycle counts, compare data to system reports, and verify adjustments with the Materials Manager.
  • Post results of cycle counts in the ERP.
  • Provide backup in the department when staff are absent or as needed.
  • Supervisor duties include, but are not limited to:
    • Approving employee time off using the ADP HRIS system.
    • Overseeing employee schedules for department coverage.
    • Completing employee performance reviews.
    • Enforcing company policies, procedures, and standards.
    • Working with HR to hire employees.
    • Collaborating with Human Resources to develop staff, conduct performance reviews, implement improvement plans, and support under‑performing employees.
    • Training new and current employees on position duties, standard operating procedures, systems, and company policies.
  • Coordinate with the team to resolve system or procedural issues.
  • Maintain overall appearance, cleanliness, and order of assigned warehouse and department areas.
  • Back‑up Shipping Lead as needed.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems and ability to learn company computer systems at a high‑functioning level.
  • Experience supervising employees positively and effectively.
  • Knowledge of standard inventory management practices.
  • Ability to use basic computer software, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Effective verbal and written communication with staff and management.
  • Safe and effective operation of industrial equipment, including a forklift and pallet jack.
  • Ability to assess a situation, draw valid conclusions, and make sound recommendations and decisions.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Direct supervision of Shipping Lead, Material Handlers, Receiving Clerks, Inventory Clerks, and Warehouse Clerks (locations: Minnesota and Iowa).
  • Additional positions as assigned or developed within the department.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 lbs on an inconsistent basis.
  • Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, lift, push, pull, and move about the facility.
  • Operate industrial equipment safely and effectively (forklift and pallet jack).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Associate’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and relevant warehouse or supervisory experience.
  • Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) certification preferred; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • OSHA‑10 or OSHA‑30 certification preferred.
