Position SummaryThe Office Coordinator, Radiology supports the efficient operation of Radiology services by coordinating the distribution, management, and handling of diagnostic imaging reports, images, records, and related documentation. This role serves as an important communication link among Radiology staff, providers, patients, and other departments by ensuring information is accurate, timely, confidential, and directed through appropriate channels. The Office Coordinator promotes effective workflow, teamwork, patient privacy, and reliable access to imaging information in support of quality patient care and departmental operations.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate the receipt, processing, distribution, and maintenance of Radiology reports, images, and supporting documentation to ensure timely and accurate availability of information.
- Maintain organized electronic and paper imaging records while verifying patient information and protecting the confidentiality and integrity of protected health information.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with Radiology staff, providers, patients, and other departments regarding reports, imaging records, documentation needs, and departmental processes.
- Assist with image and document handling activities, including retrieval, transfer, release, scanning, filing, and other administrative processes in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Monitor requests and outstanding documentation, resolve routine discrepancies, and route questions or concerns to the appropriate Radiology team member or department.
- Collaborate with coworkers and interdisciplinary partners to support efficient workflows, positive working relationships, service excellence, and continuous improvement within Radiology.
Licenses and Certifications
Required:
Secretarial certification preferred
Educational RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED preferred
Experience RequirementsOne to two years typing experience preferred
Special Skills or Training Requirements- Basic computer knowledge
- Medical background preferred
- Must be well organized
- Must have good rapport with patients and co-workers
- Must be able to work well under stress
The Office Coordinator, Radiology performs a combination of seated computer work and routine movement throughout the Radiology department and related work areas. The role requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, handle documents and imaging materials, operate standard office equipment, and occasionally lift or move light office supplies or records. Adequate vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and verbal communication ability are necessary to accurately process information and communicate with patients, staff, and providers.

The Office Coordinator, Radiology primarily works in a healthcare office and diagnostic imaging environment with regular use of computers, telephones, electronic health records, and imaging information systems. The role may involve interaction with patients and movement through clinical areas where exposure to communicable illnesses or other healthcare-related conditions may occur. The Office Coordinator must follow established privacy, infection-prevention, safety, security, and personal protective equipment requirements as applicable to the work setting.
