Adjunct Faculty – Mathematics & Statistics – UMGC (Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota)
University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach on‑site at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, for the Mathematics program. For this position the following courses will be taught:
Courses and Focus Areas- Topics for Mathematical Literacy (MATH 105):
Contemporary topics in mathematics applied to exponential and logarithmic modeling, personal finance, probability, logical thinking, and statistical reasoning. - College Algebra (MATH 107):
Equations, inequalities, functions, graphing skills (polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic), technology use, algebraic fluency, complex numbers, model translation, and problem solving. - Introduction to Statistics (STAT 200):
Validity of statistical conclusions, data organization, graphical and tabular presentation, inferential statistics, sampling, percentiles, probability distributions (normal, t, chi‑square), confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, binomial experiments, sample size calculations, correlation, regression, and ANOVA.
Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Professional experience in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Preferred:
Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education. - Commitment to teaching on‑site at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota.

- Terminal degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Resume or Curriculum Vitae.
- Cover letter is highly preferred.
- International degree holders may need to submit a translation or evaluation from a NACES‑approved vendor.
- Engage students through frequent interaction, motivating them to succeed and demonstrating enthusiasm.
- Guide students in collaborative, problem‑ and project‑based learning demonstrations.
- Provide constructive feedback using rubrics, acknowledging student accomplishments.
- Demonstrate current subject‑matter expertise and connect concepts across the program.
- Offer feedback to the program chair on curricular improvements.
