Position Overview

The Academic Instructor position provides support for a U.S Department of Labor Job Corps contractor. The Job Corps program is a federally funded residential training program. The mission of Job Corps is to provide career‑based technical and academic training and job placement assistance to program eligible youth ages 16-24.

Summary of Duties

We’re looking for a Part‑Time English Language (ELL) Instructor to support students who are learning English as a second language. In this role, you’ll help students build confidence in reading, writing, speaking, and listening—while also preparing them for career and academic success.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching English language skills including grammar, reading, writing, speaking, and pronunciation.
  • Creating lesson plans and instructional materials that meet diverse student needs.
  • Assessing student progress and adjusting instruction to support improvement.
  • Supporting students in preparing for tests, certifications, and next steps (employment, training, or college).
  • Integrating real‑world skills like communication, problem‑solving, and teamwork into lessons.
  • Maintaining accurate records, including attendance, progress notes, and required documentation.
  • Collaborating with academic, career technical training, and support staff to ensure student success.
  • Providing guidance and encouragement to help students stay engaged and motivated.
  • Supporting students with accommodations and individualized learning plans when needed.
  • Creating a positive, structured, and safe learning environment.
Qualifications
  • Have experience teaching English language learners or similar student populations.
  • Create engaging, student‑centered learning environments.
  • Adapt teaching style to meet different learning needs.
  • Communicate clearly and build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Stay organized and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Bring energy, patience, and enthusiasm into the classroom.
Credentials

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required. Teacher Certification in the state of employment.

Certifications, Licenses, Registration

Valid state driver’s license;
Valid Teacher Certification, in state of employment.
