KSI Engineering, Inc. is looking for a Survey Technician who is interested in joining a multi-disciplinary team focused on serving relationship-based clients and internal business units across multiple states.

KSI is a privately-owned, sole-source service provider of engineering, fabrication, construction, and maintenance services to multiple industries including upstream oil and gas production, natural gas treating and transportation, refining, co-generation, heavy industrial, utilities, water treatment, and all types of pipelines. The Survey Technician will be focused on supporting Party Chief's and Project Surveyors in the gathering of project data, establishment of physical locations through staking and construction layouts, in addition to providing support to our construction teams.

Outstanding candidates should possess strong communication & interpersonal skills and be superb problem solvers.

Minimum Experience, Education, and Capabilities
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Preferred 2 years' survey tech experience using AutoCAD formats and preparing plats, easements, and topographic surveys
  • Preferred proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D, and/or Leica
  • Possesses a strong background in construction
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in North Dakota
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understanding of land surveying, engineering, and construction
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions in English
  • Ability to communicate with employees and various business partners in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Knowledge of technology (iPads, cellphones etc.)
  • Software knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3D, and other pertinent programs
  • Strong computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
Working Conditions

The work environment and working conditions described here are representative of those that are typical of the job and must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Moderate to high noise (i.e. construction sites with active equipment, vehicle traffic, etc.).

Working Hours

Normally, a full-time employee will work 40 hours per week, depending on the factors such as weather and schedules. Work schedules and hours may vary depending on specific client locations and projects. In general, applicable work schedules include modified 9/80, 4x10', and 5-8’s. All labor laws in reference to rest breaks and meal periods will be followed.
