This position will travel throughout Western North Dakota and be based out of the Williston, Dickinson, Minot, or Bismarck District office. Travel and overnight stays may be required. On‑site work in the summer months could be in any one of the four districts listed.

We are looking for a candidate with a passion for construction and engineering, who enjoys working outdoors and has a strong understanding of technology to fill our role as an engineering technician/ construction technician.
Responsibilities- Conduct field inspections for all types of construction projects, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Use cutting‑edge equipment such as a Robotic Total Station GPS, drones, and computer-aided drafting software (e.g., Micro Station) to measure, calculate quantities, and create reports and plan sheets.
- Perform tests on road and bridge building materials to ensure they meet NDDOT specifications.
- Assist project engineers with checking and organizing project final records and with district design work that requires Micro Station.
- Receive training and support to excel in these tasks.
- Engineering Technician IV: 6+ years of related experience; engineering or related college coursework/degree may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Engineering Technician III: 4+ years of related experience; engineering or related college coursework/degree may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Engineering Technician II: 2+ years of related experience; engineering or related college coursework/degree may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Engineering Technician I:
High school diploma or GED required with basic understanding of job‑related concepts. - Ability to work outdoors in all weather and on uneven/slippery surfaces.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Valid North Dakota Class D driver’s license.
- Material testing is preferred.
- Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) reflecting the required abilities for this position may be substituted for the required work experience on a year‑for‑year basis. Related MOS codes include Horizontal Construction Engineer (12N), Geospatial Engineer (12Y), Technical Engineer (12T), and Engineering (3E5X1).
- Strong interest in construction and engineering, good organizational and communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
