North Star Community Credit Union is seeking a Senior Agricultural & Commercial Loan Officer to lead and expand a high-impact lending portfolio serving the Minot area and surrounding rural communities.
This role is designed for a seasoned agricultural lender who brings deep market knowledge, strong credit acumen, and a strong passion for building meaningful member relationships within the credit union environment. You will play a critical role in supporting producers, ranchers, and agribusinesses while driving sustainable portfolio growth.
The Opportunity- Lead and grow a $50MM–$150MM agricultural and commercial loan portfolio
- Serve as a trusted advisor to producers and business owners
- Operate with a high level of autonomy and market influence
- Contribute to the strategic direction of agricultural lending within the credit union
- Develop, manage, and expand a complex agricultural and commercial portfolio
- Build long-term relationships with producers, ranchers, and agribusiness leaders
- Identify new lending opportunities within established and emerging markets
- Maintain strong visibility throughout the Minot-area agricultural community
- Structure and originate complex lending solutions, including:
- Farm real estate
- Operating lines of credit
- Equipment and machinery financing
- Livestock and production loans
- Agribusiness and commercial real estate
- Perform in-depth financial analysis (cash flow, tax returns, balance sheets)
- Prepare and present high-quality credit packages
- Monitor portfolio performance and proactively manage credit risk
- Conduct borrower reviews, farm visits, and ongoing financial analysis
- Ensure compliance with internal policy and regulatory standards
- Build a strong presence through:
- Farm and ranch visits
- Producer meetings
- Industry events and partnerships
- Act as a strategic financial partner to navigate growth and market shifts
A relationship-driven agricultural lender with credibility in rural markets and the ability to manage complex, high-value lending relationships.
Required Experience- 7–12+ years in agricultural and/or commercial lending
- Strong knowledge of crop and livestock operations
- Experience structuring multi-million-dollar credit facilities
- Demonstrated ability to develop new business and retain long-term clients
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Agricultural Economics, or related field
- Equivalent professional experience considered
- Cash flow modeling and credit structuring
- Loan documentation and regulatory compliance
- Experience in North Dakota or Minnesota agricultural markets
- Background supporting large-scale or diversified agricultural operations
