The Occupational Therapist provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment services to help patients regain or improve functional abilities following illness, injury, or changes in health status. This role conducts thorough assessments, establishes individualized treatment goals, and delivers evidence-based interventions designed to maximize independence, safety, and quality of life. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, rehabilitation team members, patients, and families, the Occupational Therapist contributes to coordinated, patient-centered care across the hospital and medical district.

This position functions within a supportive, interdisciplinary rehabilitation environment that values teamwork, communication, and professional collaboration. The role also supports departmental quality initiatives, documentation standards, and ongoing professional development activities in alignment with Trinity Health standards.

• Perform occupational therapy evaluations, interpret assessment findings, and develop individualized treatment plans in alignment with physician orders and clinical standards.
• Deliver therapeutic interventions focused on improving functional mobility, activities of daily living, cognitive skills, and upper-extremity performance.
• Document assessments, progress notes, treatment sessions, and discharge recommendations in accordance with regulatory and departmental requirements.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support care coordination, discharge planning, and patient education.
• Maintain treatment equipment and therapy spaces, ensuring proper use, cleanliness, and availability of necessary materials.
• Participate in in-service training, quality initiatives, and continuing education to support clinical competency and program development.

• Licenses and Certifications Required Current ND OT license in good standing required. Basic Life Support (CPR) required within 30 days of hire.

• Physical Requirements The Occupational Therapist frequently stands, walks, bends, and assists patients during therapeutic activities and mobility exercises. The role requires the ability to lift, support, or reposition patients and handle therapy equipment of varying weights following safe patient-handling practices. Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity are essential for conducting assessments, performing interventions, and ensuring safe and accurate documentation.
• Environmental Requirements Work occurs in a hospital rehabilitation environment, including patient rooms, therapy gyms, and specialized treatment areas. The therapist may encounter bodily fluids, infectious diseases, cleaning agents, and medical equipment. The role requires adherence to infection-control protocols, PPE use, and safety procedures while working in fast-paced and occasionally high-stress clinical situations.
