Position Summary
The Radiation Therapy Manager provides leadership and operational oversight for the Radiation Oncology department, ensuring the safe, precise, and patient-centered delivery of radiation treatments. This role directs the daily activities of radiation therapists, dosimetrists, and other support staff while promoting adherence to established clinical protocols, safety regulations, and quality standards. Working collaboratively with the Cancer Care Director, physicists, and oncology providers, the Radiation Therapy Manager supports accurate treatment planning, regulatory readiness, and continuous improvement efforts.
The position also contributes to billing practices, workflow optimization, and departmental processes, functioning within a collaborative and supportive team environment focused on delivering excellent patient outcomes.
- Oversee daily operations of the Radiation Oncology department to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate delivery of radiation therapy services.
- Supervise radiation therapists, dosimetry personnel, and other assigned staff, providing direction, coaching, scheduling support, and performance feedback.
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory, safety, and accreditation standards, ensuring appropriate documentation, quality checks, and equipment protocols.
- Collaborate with oncology providers, medical physicists, and the Cancer Care Director to support treatment planning, workflow efficiency, and patient experience initiatives.
- Assist with billing review, charge accuracy, and administrative processes to support operational integrity.
- Promote a culture of professionalism, ethical practice, and continuous improvement within all radiation therapy operations.
- ARRT certification in Radiation Therapy strongly preferred.
- BLS certification preferred but not required.
- Baccalaureate degree in management or health sciences strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory and/or management experience.
- An absolute dedication to accuracy and completeness.
- A willingness to teach others.
- A strong desire to maintain competency in a dynamic field.
The Radiation Therapy Manager is frequently required to stand, walk, and move throughout treatment areas while supervising staff and supporting clinical activities. The role may involve assisting with patient positioning, handling immobilization devices, and operating or adjusting equipment, which can require moderate physical effort. Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity are essential to safely oversee treatment environments, review documentation, and respond to clinical or equipment issues.
EnvironmentalRequirements
Work is performed in a clinical oncology environment with exposure to radiation controlled areas, specialized equipment, and routine patient care activities. The role may encounter infectious materials, cleaning agents, and moderate noise from treatment machinery. Strict adherence to radiation safety protocols, PPE requirements, and infection prevention practices is required to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
