Observability Engineer
Every transaction, every user click, every API call flows through observability before it becomes an insight, an alert, or an automated action. You are the engineer who makes that pipeline work.
We are seeking an Observability Engineer with expertise in enterprise monitoring and integration development to join a team delivering full‑stack visibility across 250+ mission‑critical services supporting enterprise operations. You will deploy monitoring agents, onboard applications, build dashboards, develop integrations, and review incidents to find where monitoring was missing so the next one gets caught. This role has a clear growth path into AIOps, automation, and agentic AI as the program scales, with opportunities to build new observability platforms from the ground up as we expand into new environments.
You will also mentor and may supervise team members. Due to the nature of work performed within this facility, U.S. citizenship is required.
- 3+ years of experience in IT operations, monitoring, observability, and systems engineering
- Experience deploying and operating Dynatrace for application and infrastructure monitoring, including agent deployment, management zones, dashboards, and alerting
- Experience configuring Real User Monitoring (RUM) and building operational dashboards tied to SLOs
- Experience writing automation and integration code in Python, JavaScript, Bash, and Power Shell
- Experience building integrations using REST APIs, webhooks, data connectors, and Open Telemetry pipelines
- Experience reviewing incidents after resolution to identify monitoring gaps and recommend instrumentation improvements
- Experience working in Agile environments with sprint‑based delivery
- Knowledge of network monitoring fundamentals, including SNMP, SNMP traps, Syslog, or Net Flow
- Knowledge of application architectures, including microservices, containers, and API gateways
- Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science or Information Technology field
- Experience with Dynatrace Synthetic monitoring, Session Replay, App Sec, digital experience monitoring, and Dynatrace Intelligence
- Experience with Service Now Event Management, including event rules, alert management rules, alert correlation, alert lifecycle, including creation, acknowledgment, remediation, and closure, CMDB fundamentals with CI relationships and dependencies, ITOM concepts, ITSM integration for automated incident creation, Glide API, and ITIL practices
- Experience deploying monitoring agents and observability tooling in government cloud environments such as AWS Gov Cloud, Azure Government, or IL4 / IL5, including restricted network and STIG‑hardened deployments
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK / EFK
- Experience with containerization and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Experience with Splunk, Splunk Enterprise Security (SIEM), Cribl, and Solar Winds
- Experience with Terraform, Infrastructure‑as‑Code, and Dynatrace Configuration as Code, including Monaco
- Experience using observability data for capacity planning and infrastructure forecasting
- Dynatrace Associate or Professional Certification or Service Now Certified Implementation Specialist – Event Management (CIS‑EM) Certification
