Job Overview

Community Medical Services (CMS) is hiring immediately a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to assist patients recovering from addictions to opioids and other illicit substances. You will perform physical exams, assessments, and manage patient methadone treatment plans, fostering a safe place for anyone beginning their recovery journey with us.

Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive physical examinations and manage methadone treatment plans.
  • Ensure all medical evaluations, histories, and physical examinations are completed before patients receive the initial dose of medication.
  • Maintain and sign medical orders, treatment plans, and documentation required by state and federal laws.
  • Manage ongoing treatment, including chronic health problems, prescription medication management, and case management.
  • Accurately complete same‑day clinical documentation using EHR visit templates.
  • Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals and medical facilities as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director to meet patients’ healthcare needs.
  • Educate patients, families, staff, and community members on medication actions, side effects, and healthy habits.
Qualifications
  • Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of employment.
  • Unrestricted DEA license.
  • CPR certification.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Clinical experience in substance abuse rehabilitation and opioid treatment preferred.
  • Experience documenting in an electronic medical record.
  • Ability to complete a valid fingerprint clearance and tuberculosis test.
