Full-Time - Salary: $32.48 to $32.48 Per Hour

9 months, 7 hours per day
Under general supervision, the School Nurse assesses the health needs of special education students, students on 504 plans, and students with health plans, develops emergency care plans and individual health plans, and provides appropriate care for ill, medically fragile, and injured students. The school nurse serves as a resource to teachers, staff, and administrators, identifying health problems for referral for proper treatment, and delegates appropriate nursing interventions to Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP).
EssentialFunctions
- Provide medical consultation to relevant staff.
- Attend IEP and 504 meetings as requested by school personnel.
- Develop and administer specialized health care procedures as authorized.
- Conduct mandated screenings (vision, hearing, asthma, anaphylaxis assessment, back/scoliosis) to refer medical conditions and provide appropriate care.
- Conduct communicable disease monitoring for students for identification as needed and monitor communicable disease outbreaks.
- Review immunization records and collaborate with staff on noncompliant students.
- Review identified health record concerns and maintain necessary alerts in the student information system. Collaborate with administrative staff to obtain care plan/action plan paperwork.
- Develop Individual Health Plans for students with health concerns at the primary level.
- Provide training to staff responsible for treating minor injuries or providing basic first aid.
- Provide training to Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAPs), and supervise and monitor their work.
- In cases of emergency, conduct assessment for serious injuries and provide emergency interventions as needed.
- Supports the relationship between the Minot Public School District and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with clients, visitors, and District staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and District information; follows compliance rules governing child abuse; performs related duties as required or assigned.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field plus 3 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must pass a thorough background investigation.

Must possess current registered nurse licensure in the state of North Dakota, and hold a valid North Dakota Driver’s License.
Physical Demands & Working EnvironmentWork is performed under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness. May be required to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
