The Nurse Educator for Perioperative Services enhances surgical care quality by developing, coordinating, and evaluating education and competency programs for perioperative nursing staff and Surgical Technician Program.

The Nurse Educator for Perioperative Services enhances surgical care quality by developing, coordinating, and evaluating education and competency programs for perioperative nursing staff and Surgical Technician Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess learning needs and create education plans, competency evaluations, and training aligned with evidence-based practice and regulations.
  • Provide orientation, clinical coaching, and skills validation across perioperative areas including OR, PACU, GI Lab, Prep/Recovery, Pre-Admission Testing, and Central Processing.
  • Collaborate with leadership and interdisciplinary teams to implement practice updates, workflow improvements, and evaluate educational outcomes.
  • Develop educational materials, simulations, and documentation to ensure staff proficiency and departmental readiness.
  • Serve as a clinical resource, guiding staff during procedures and care transitions.
  • Foster a professional learning environment promoting teamwork, continuous improvement, and adherence to standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Current RN license; BSN or Master's preferred; BSN required within three years if applicable.
  • At least 3 years of clinical RN experience in the operating room, with preferred experience in circulating, scrubbing, and PACU.
  • Experience in teaching or precepting perioperative staff preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and audiovisual knowledge.
  • Certifications such as BLS and ACLS required.
Additional Details:

The role involves frequent movement within clinical environments, demonstrating procedures, and supporting staff across multiple surgical settings, with adherence to safety and PPE protocols. The environment includes exposure to typical surgical risks and high-acuity demands.
