Overview
Recreation program assistant performs duties related to preparing facilities for scheduled activities, managing reservations and payments, notifying participants of schedule changes, maintaining equipment, decorating facilities for events, setting up sporting nets and cages, checking safety systems, posting announcements, taking inventory, and assisting with group activities requiring multiple staff.
Responsibilities- Set up recreation areas for scheduled activities and notify participants of schedule changes.
- Take reservations and payment for trips and tours; handle cash and related records.
- Arrange for equipment or tools, loan to participants, and check them for condition on return.
- Decorate community or recreation centers for events or parties; string nets and set up batting cages as needed.
- Check established safety systems of facilities, tools, and equipment.
- Post announcements of scheduled activities and respond to inquiries about items, places, transportation, or related matters.
- Take inventory of authorized recreation supplies and equipment.
- Assist with group activities requiring more than one staff monitor, performing assigned tasks.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.

- Experience requirements:
Practical knowledge of recreational activities, rules, and procedures. Ability to safeguard and handle cash and use and maintain recreational equipment and facilities is desirable; however, no experience is required. - Education:
Some federal jobs allow substitution of education for experience; this position does not allow education substitution. - Foreign
Education:
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet requirements with proof of equivalency to U.S. education. - Additional information:
Individual must meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements; pre-employment requirements and E-Verify checks may apply; probationary period may be required; some terms related to relocation or PCS may apply; multiple positions may be filled. - Other program-specific requirements: U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three or more consecutive years prior to federal affiliation;
