Auto Body Technician

An Auto Body Technician focuses exclusively on the exterior of automobiles, performing repairs and replacing parts as required. Techs repair vehicles per estimate and manufacturer standards, verify parts, prepare vehicles for repair work, and notify management of additional needed repairs.

• Complete dis‑assembly of vehicle to assist Service Advisors in assessing damage and preparing a 100% repair plan.
• Ensure all needed repairs are identified to eliminate supplements and minimize repair time.
• Plan work procedures and follow the work order for all operations listed.
• Remove interior trim, accessories, glass, and seat operating equipment to gain access to the damaged area of vehicle if needed; store parts on carts or covers to avoid damage.
• Repair damaged body by performing proper procedures according to manufacturer specifications.
• Operate a variety of hand and power tools (e.g., welder, soldering equipment, cutting torch, blocks, hammers, wrenches, sander, spray guns).
• Properly prepare, sand, finish, and prime exterior panels before passing the vehicle to the paint department.
• Repair or replace defective parts.
• Comply with all ABRA safety rules, guidelines, and standards.

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
• Working estimating knowledge.
• Organization and multi‑tasking skills; good time management and the ability to adapt to a fast‑paced environment.

• Ability to read and understand written instructions.

The position is based in a normal shop environment with occasional physical activity such as reaching below and above shoulder level, kneeling, bending, squatting, stooping, and lifting and carrying objects over 50lb. Employees are exposed to fumes, chemicals, dust, high noise levels, and weather conditions both inside and outside. Protective equipment will be required as necessary. Occasional sedentary work and visual acuity requirements apply.
