ROLE

OVERVIEW

This is a seasonal position; you can use your winters off to travel, hunt, fish, or for other activities you enjoy while your benefits continue year-round.

This position is responsible for safely smoothing and finishing surfaces of poured concrete to specified textures using hand tools or power tools including floats, trowels, trowel machines, and screeds. It also signals the concrete deliverer to position the truck to facilitate pouring concrete.

Typical schedule is Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM with every other Saturday. Hours may vary depending on weather or customer demand.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform daily equipment, walk‑around, and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.
  • Safely and properly perform maintenance.
  • Safely and properly spread concrete into inaccessible sections of forms using a rake or shovel. Level concrete to specified depth and workable consistency. Remove rough or defective spots from concrete and patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound. Mold expansion joints and may sprinkle chips, powdered steel, or coloring powder on concrete to produce the prescribed finish. May mix cement and direct subgrade work.
  • Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written); self‑motivated, team‑player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.
  • Troubleshoot and problem‑solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.).
  • Monitor and discuss production problems with co‑workers and managers/supervisors.
  • Ensure OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety, and environmental regulation compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of concrete finisher experience.
  • Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure, medical card, and acceptable driving record.
