Position Purpose

Food and food service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. They ensure customers’ products arrive on time and in good condition, and act as the face of our company, building lasting relationships with our customers.

Primary Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip) and inspect tractor/truck and trailer to meet DOT regulations and company safety standards.
  • Report all safety issues and required repairs.
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines, reporting hazards immediately and ensuring freight is properly loaded and secured.
  • Perform item count checks and verify customer invoices of loaded products.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
  • Move tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed.
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to the predetermined route schedule.
  • Unload products from the trailer and transport items to designated customer storage areas.
  • Perform damage control checks, scan items, and contact supervisor about order removals.
  • Verify delivery of items with the customer and obtain proper signatures.
  • Collect money (cash or checks) where required.
  • Load customer returns onto the trailer and secure trailer doors.
  • Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured.
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns, bring to driver check‑in, and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Unload all equipment, materials, and remove trash from trailers as required.
  • Complete daily records of hours of service and log them according to federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clear and clean as required.
  • At the end of the shift, secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent with 6+ months of commercial driving experience.
  • Valid CDL‑A license.
  • 21+ years of age.
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
  • Pass post‑offer drug test and criminal background check.
  • Pass road test.
  • Attain or have a valid current DOT Health Card and/or be able to secure a new DOT Health Card.
  • Able to hand‑lift and use two‑wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout the shift; product generally ranges from 10‑35 pounds up to approximately 60‑90 pounds, depending on location.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of food service distribution industry experience.
  • Experience with onboard computer and electronic log system (e.g., People Net).
  • Experience with handheld point‑of‑delivery scanning system (e.g., POD).
  • Customer service‑related work experience.
