SUMMARY

Under basic supervision, delivers food and supplies to MPS facilities; inspects and cleans vehicle daily.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS __ Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Factors such as regular attendance at the job are not routinely listed in job descriptions, but is an essential function. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Delivers meals, mail, food, and supplies to schools; follows strict time schedules, while keeping within safety standards and traffic regulations at all times.
  • Picks up food and meals from preparation site, and packs and transports food according MPS standards, and food safety rules and regulations; packs perishable food in special containers, and loads into MPS vehicle, assuring that specific food temperature requirements are maintained.
  • Drives courier routes to deliver and pick up mail, packages, and supplies between MPS buildings; picks up purchases and materials from community businesses.
  • Performs daily vehicle inspection and cleaning, and operates MPS vehicles in accordance with all traffic laws, regulations, and procedures.
  • Completes all required written reports and activity logs.
  • Assists with receiving and stocking food and supplies at MPS warehouse.
  • Reports safety hazards, equipment problems, and emergency situations.
  • Reports unsafe acts, road conditions, accidents, and injuries; responds to emergencies as needed.
  • Supports the relationship between the Minot Public School District and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with clients, visitors, and District staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and District information; follows compliance rules governing child abuse; performs related duties as required or assigned.
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines

High School Diploma or GED equivalent; AND one year of commercial driving experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge of:
  • MPS policies and procedures.
  • State and federal regulations governing public transportation.
  • Safety rules and regulations, occupational hazards, safety precautions, and safe driving techniques in all road conditions.
  • Local geographical area, road systems, and city and state traffic regulations.
Skill in:
  • Operating vehicles in a safe manner, in compliance with all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Reacting quickly to situations that could create safety and security problems.
  • Maintaining food deliveries according to MPS standards, and food safety rules and regulations.
  • Following and enforcing safe work practices and safety standards.
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers.
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

A valid North Dakota State Driver’s License is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a transit vehicle in a traffic environment, with moderate physical requirements; may be required to lift and move items weighing up to 35 pounds.

This position is subject to veteran's preference.

Position Type: Part-Time

Salary: $20.76 to $20.76 Per Hour
