Salary: $65,000–$72,000 annually
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in South Bend, Indiana. This individual will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, performing detailed account reconciliations, supporting month-end close, and preparing comprehensive financial statements.
The ideal candidate will have strong accounting fundamentals, advanced Excel skills, and a high level of attention to detail.
Experience with deferred revenue accounting, complex reconciliations, and financial statement preparation is highly valued.
Perform detailed account reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring financial information is complete and accurate.
Prepare and maintain deferred revenue schedules and accounting entries, ensuring revenue is recognized appropriately.
Prepare detailed financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
Analyze general ledger activity and ensure transactions are properly recorded and classified.
Utilize Excel extensively for financial analysis, reconciliations, reporting, and data validation.
Assist with accruals, journal entries, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other accounting functions.
Research and resolve accounting discrepancies while maintaining accurate supporting documentation.
Assist with audit requests and provide detailed schedules and documentation as needed.
Collaborate with internal departments to gather financial information and ensure accounting accuracy.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and efficiency.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
2–5+ years of accounting experience in a Staff Accountant or similar role.
Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
Demonstrated experience with deferred revenue accounting.
Strong background performing high-volume and detailed account reconciliations.
Advanced or highly proficient Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and financial data analysis.
Experience preparing detailed financial statements and supporting schedules.
Exceptional attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy.
Ability to analyze financial information, identify discrepancies, and independently resolve issues.
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments.
