Queen of Peace Catholic School, a vibrant and faithful Catholic elementary school located in Mishawaka, IN, is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and faith-filled 1st Grade Teacher for the 26-27 academic year.

The ideal candidate is a practicing Catholic committed to the faith formation and academic excellence of young learners. As a 1st grade teacher, you will guide students through a pivotal year of spiritual, academic, social, and emotional growth, fostering a love for Christ and a passion for lifelong learning.

Spiritual & Catholic Identity
  • Model the Faith:
    Teach and live in accordance with the doctrines and moral teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Faith Formation:
    Lead daily prayers, prepare students for school Liturgies, and integrate Catholic values and teachings across all academic subjects.
  • Community Life:
    Participate actively in the spiritual life of the school, including faculty retreats, Masses, and service projects.
Instructional Design & Delivery
  • Curriculum Implementation:
    Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons in core subjects (Religion, Reading/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies) aligned with State standards.
  • Differentiated Learning:
    Meet the diverse needs of 1st-grade learners by utilizing a variety of instructional strategies, hands‑on activities, and small-group learning.
  • Science of Reading Focus:
    Emphasize early literacy development, phonemic awareness, and guided reading to build confident, independent readers.
Classroom Management & Culture
  • Positive Environment:
    Establish a structured, nurturing, and safe classroom culture rooted in mutual respect, kindness, and Christian charity.
  • Routine Building:
    Teach and reinforce daily routines and procedures that help 6- and 7-year-olds thrive and develop independence.
Assessment & Communication
  • Progress Monitoring:
    Use both formative and summative assessments to track student growth and inform future instruction.
  • Parent Partnership:
    Maintain open, professional, and frequent communication with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and achievements.
  • Collaboration:

    Work collaboratively with the administrative team, grade-level colleagues, and support staff to enhance the school community.
