Evaluation:
Annually as outlined in Board Policy and Administrative Procedures

Work Schedule:

183.5 days per year plus 5 extra days (may require a flexible schedule)

Compensation:
Teachers' contract and negotiated stipend

Summary:

Supervise student discipline and attendance. Ensure student compliance with all codes of discipline, attendance and tardy policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary liaison to Pennway.
  • Support students enrolled at Pennway.
  • Determine and assign disciplinary action based upon infraction(s) of school policy.
  • Work with administrative staff in making expulsion recommendations.
  • Document student due process and participate in appropriate hearings.
  • Provide adequate supervision for and handle referral related to high school student transportation.
  • Act as liaison to assigned student groups/activities and supervises evening and extracurricular activities with appropriate stipend.
  • Coordinate, in conjunction with appropriate guidance counselor(s), the student advisory/homeroom program and activities with appropriate stipend.
  • Suggest revisions in protocols and procedures when appropriate.
  • Work closely with guidance counselors and assist in creating programming for specific grade levels.
  • Supervise evening activities one evening per week.
  • Assist in supervising major events.
  • Assist in a program of public relations for the school, working with staff, students, parents, community and central office administrators to improve communications and understanding of student learning opportunities.
  • Participate in appropriate professional organizations and appropriate professional development opportunities.
  • Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, colleagues, self and facilities from unwarranted abuse.
  • Cooperate with other staff members and supporting personnel to ensure a quality-learning environment.
  • Follow other directives assigned by the school principal, assistant principal(s), the assistant superintendent or superintendent that serve to improve services to the students and patrons of the Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Valid Indiana Teaching Certification, Secondary.
  • Secondary teaching experience, preferably in a high school.
  • Excellent communication skills-oral, written, and interpersonal. Detail oriented.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in administration desired.
  • Excellent work habits, attendance record and successfully complete and pass all criminal history and child abuse clearances.
  • Shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Sensory Requirements:
Most tasks require visual perception and discrimination. All tasks require oral communications ability.

Environmental Factors:
Tasks are regularly performed without potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as temperature and noise extremes, odors, humidity, vibrations, traffic hazards, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however the noise level can vary depending upon daily activity, but will still remain within the acceptable noise level range.

Mental Effort:
Normal Concentration/intensity, which includes prolonged mental effort with limited opportunity for breaks. When duties and responsibilities change and develop the job description will be reviewed and subject to changes of business necessity.
