Description

South Bend Orthopedics is looking for a full-time Workers Compensation Specialist. The position would be responsible for the proper and timely processing of workers compensation claims including pre-certification.

• Contacts employers and employer’s workers compensation carriers to pre-authorize workers compensation patients prior to appointment.
• Triage between patients, physicians, workers comp adjusters, case managers, and employers.
• Schedules patient appointments and confirms new patient appointments.
• Assists patients with the completion of insurance forms and pre-certification.
• Knowledge of work comp and physician protocols.
• Maintains strict confidentiality required related to medical records and other data.

• Ability to communicate clearly, and possess excellent phone skills in order to establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, Physicians and staff.
• Efficient gathering and effective comprehension of insurance and/or account information.
• Navigate and comprehension of computer software systems in office setting, prefer 50wpm typing skill.
• Must maintain knowledge of clinic, insurance contract policies and procedures and medical terminology as related to the job.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Minimum of two years experience in claims processing in a health care setting including workman’s compensation.
