AUXILIARY PERSONNEL POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position: BUILDING LEVEL TECHNICIAN/LEARNING LAB COORDINATOR
Work Schedule:
Variable (per location), 199 work days/ 207 days with paid holidays
15-29 hours per week
Evaluation: after 90-days, thereafter annually

Principal & Director of Information Technology

Summary:
Building Technician/Learning Lab Coordinators serves as a team member under the direction of the School Principal. Main duties will include hardware/software support, troubleshooting issues concerning hardware/software and maintaining a high level of customer service. Coordinate use of instructional software in the Learning Lab. Manage and maintain student data information for educational software. Supervise students in the Learning Lab and classrooms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Provide first line troubleshooting, evaluation, and resolution of any technical problem by:
* Resolving the problem within fifteen minutes or submitting a work order describing the specifics and attempted resolution;
* Performing minor technical repairs or replacements to monitors, input devices, peripherals, computer cards, etc.;
* Assisting end users in resolving software issues, including local software re-installation or application training;
* Serving as the contact person to whom technical problems are reported and managing the building level work order process.
* Provide basic network support by:
* Performing maintenance such as back up, set-up and maintenance of user accounts, printer configurations, and installation of networked applications;
* Updating and maintaining assigned passwords and folders.
* Document and properly communicate instances of failure, repair, installation, and removal of hardware.
* Find a solution to a problem, submit a work order, if necessary, describing specifics of a problem and attempted solutions. Coordinate purchasing for the Learning Lab.
* Assist users in resolving software conflicts and issues.
* Train employees in the use of the lab and its software.
* Organize, administer, and assess computerized testing for students. Maintain records on student progress.
* Produce or assist teachers in producing reports on student achievement. Coordination of ISTEP materials, if needed.
* Maintain Confidentiality.
* Monitor safety procedures in the Learning Lab: fire, disaster, shelter in place, and code blue drills, and monitor cameras.
* Act as a liaison between faculty and students.
* Task assignments for this position are made by the building administrator and/or Director of IT (or Director's Corporate IT designate) according to each school's specific needs. The building administrator may have additional input in identifying other preferred qualifications and/or appropriate duties that may exceed those described above.
* Installation of software ensuring legality of licensing;
* Participation in staff development activities to improve and update technical knowledge and skills and to better serve users;
* Attending departmental staff meetings.
13. Respond to crises and provide aid in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
14. Maintain Confidentiality.
Qualification Requirements:
1. At least sixty credit hours or must take and pass the Paraprofessional test, in accordance with the No Child Left Behind Law.
2. Technical skills and abilities with computer hardware and software.
3. Good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to be flexible.
4. Willingness to participate in on-going training to improve and/or develop job-related skills.
5. Strong Organizational Skills. Ability to be flexible.
6. Excellent work habits, attendance record and successfully complete and pass all criminal history and child abuse clearances.
7. Shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.
