Job DescriptionSolution Architect – North America (Partner / Commercial)
We are looking for a Solution Architect who will act as a trusted technical advisor for customers and partners, ensuring SUSE’s solutions align with their business and technical needs. The role will work closely with regional sales and partner teams to drive technical excellence in solution design.
Role OverviewUse specialized knowledge to consult with customers, support sales presentations, product demonstrations, proofs of concept, and technical requests, ultimately helping customers invest in the right solutions from the SUSE portfolio and gain a competitive edge.
Key Responsibilities- Engage with customers to understand their technical and business needs, building relationships and serving as a trusted advisor.
- Take full responsibility for the technical aspects of deal progression, from qualification to closure, including product demonstrations and proofs of concept.
- Gather and communicate customer feedback to SUSE’s Product, Strategy, and Engineering teams, supporting product improvements.
- Collaborate with field and specialist sales, partner ecosystem, and customer success teams to create account plans and drive solution adoption.
- Contribute to go‑to‑market strategies, marketing presentations, blogs, technical speaking, and booth demos.
- Analyze competitor offerings and develop differentiation strategies for SUSE solutions.
- Draft responses to technical requests for information, proposals, and quotes.
- Mentor pre‑sales peers and contribute to internal education and knowledge sharing.
- Maintain CRM hygiene by updating all activity for each opportunity.
- Pursue professional development to deepen expertise in the SUSE value proposition.
- Experience in technical consulting, pre‑sales engineering, or solution architecture focused on enterprise software solutions.
- Practical skills with Linux, open‑source software, cloud computing, and container technologies such as Kubernetes.
- Ability to articulate complex solutions to audiences up to CXO level, translating technical concepts into business value.
- Experience creating technical demonstrations and whitepapers to illustrate product value.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, delivering innovative, value‑driven solutions.
- Experience collaborating cross‑functionally with sales, engineering, and customer success teams.
- Experience designing and delivering scalable, secure, and reliable enterprise solutions.
- Consultative sales skills, fostering customer relationships and serving as a trusted advisor.
- Competitor analysis and solution positioning skills.
- Experience working with CRM tools such as Salesforce or Clari.
For U.S. candidates, the starting base salary is expected to be between $125,000 and $150,000. Additional compensation may include a commission plan and a competitive benefits package. U.S. benefits include medical coverage, life and disability insurance, 401(k), Employee Assistance Program, and generous paid time off and leave policies.
Compensation will be determined by experience, skills, location, internal equity, and budget. This pay transparency information applies only to U.S. based roles.
