Senior Development Officer (Major Gifts)
Mission Services of London is looking for a full-time Senior Development Officer (focused on major and legacy gifts). This role reports to the Director of Social Enterprise, Development & Communications. The Senior Development Officer is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with donors and securing philanthropic support from individuals, corporations, organizations, and foundations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, secure, and steward gifts of $5,000 or more.
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 150 donor and prospect relationships.
- Develop and carry out donor engagement and solicitation plans.
- Conduct in-person, phone, and virtual donor meetings.
- Support colleagues and senior volunteers, including Board members, with fundraising and stewardship activities.
- Maintain accurate records and reporting in the donor database.
- Work with the Development team on donor engagement activities, proposals, grants, and stewardship reporting.
- Maintain working knowledge of relevant tax laws, investments, and major and legacy giving vehicles.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Fundraising, Business, Marketing, Public Relations, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years experience in major gift fundraising, capital campaigns, or personal sales.
- Knowledge of fundraising practices and planned giving vehicles.
- Ability to understand basic financial information and tax considerations related to giving.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of discretion and professionalism.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle (local travel required).
- Knowledge of Salesforce and the Canadian charitable sector is an asset; holding a CFRE designation is an asset.
- Full-time, 40 hours a week.
- Hybrid office/community engagement setting.
- There is an expectation to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
