Mission Community Services Society is a CARF accredited non-profit organization that’sdedicated to helping people, changing lives, and building community. With a legacy dating back to 1972, MCSS has continuously strived to support community members in need by offering a variety of programs like supportive housing, settlement programs for those new to Canada, seniors support, and much more!
You will help New Canadians settle into the District of Mission. You are responsible for delivering settlement services to the local secondary schools and the community. Your time will be split evenly through engagement of secondary aged New Canadians and New Canadians in the community. You will work closely with each member of the Settlement Team ensuring seamless delivery services to our community.
Your efforts will support efforts to aid the District of Mission in becoming a more welcoming community.
- Work as part of the team to develop and implement strategies to engage New Young Canadians.
- Be the main point of contact for all secondary and middle schools in Mission.
- Provide guidance, outreach, and support to refugees experiencing difficulties with settlement and integration to assist them in problem-solving and accessing appropriate services and resources.
- Plans and/or conducts group information sessions on topics related to settlement.
- Provide orientation services and needs assessment to clients; as well provide information about and referrals to community resources.
- Support the delivery of MCSS services to New Canadians.
- Remain current and knowledgeable on legislation, programs and information necessary to the Multicultural Services.
- Provide support for the delivery of presentations to general public on Multicultural Program and related topics.
- Support activities which promote multiculturalism and highlight many benefits of cultural diversity in our community.
- Maintain records, statistics and all required documentation. Provides reports on clients as required.
- Maintains liaison with other agencies, professionals and the community.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Social Work diploma and proficiency in a second language.
- Valid First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check for the vulnerable sector.
- Minimum of one year’s experience working in group facilitation, community engagement, social research & policy development, and project management.
- Candidates must demonstrate proven knowledge in partnership development, community engagement practice, facilitation, strategic planning, research and analysis, conflict resolution and community capacity building

Wage: Grid 10 ($25.95-$29.76)
