Responsibilities
- Assist students with homework assignments and provide academic support in a variety of subjects.
- Help students in the library focus on learning skills, develop good homework and study habits, use appropriate learning strategies, and find resources for completing homework assignments.
- Demonstrate and assist students and parents with the use of the homework help database.
- Reinforce learning concepts evident in homework assignments.
- Talk with caregivers and parents about homework strategies, study skills, and general academic support.
- Find and/or create handouts and learning materials that reinforce learning concepts when homework is complete.
- Prepare the learning environment for students, ensuring pens, pencils, paper, and other supplies are readily available.
- Track student attendance, parent participation, and provide a brief monthly narrative.
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in education. (Current students in Education, BA or BS Degree with 75% or more degree completion will be considered.)
- One year of teaching experience is preferred.
- Keyboarding and computer skills involving the use of the Internet and database searching.
- Good communication skills and an ability to interact easily with students, staff, and the public.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift library materials up to 10 pounds.
- Position requires evening hours.
Salary: $25.00 hourly.
Workload: 12 hours per week, evening hours.
