Job Description
We are seeking an organized, dependable, and detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Accountant to manage our day-to-day financial records and support the financial operations of our growing kitchen and bathroom remodeling business.
The ideal candidate has strong bookkeeping experience, understands job-cost accounting, and can ensure project expenses, customer payments, vendor bills, and company financial records remain accurate and up to date.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management & Reporting: Maintain complete financial records in Quick Books, perform bank/credit card reconciliations, and prepare monthly financial reports (P&L, balance sheets, cash flow, A/R aging). Support month-end/year-end closures and coordinate with our CPA for tax filings.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage A/P (vendor invoices, scheduled payments) and A/R (customer invoicing, deposits, progress payments, collections).
- Job Costing & Project Tracking: Track materials, labor, subcontractor payments, and change orders. Maintain job-cost reports specific to kitchen and bathroom remodeling projects.
- Payroll & Compliance: Process payroll (or coordinate with provider), track sales tax filings, collect/maintain subcontractor W-9s and insurance certificates, and prepare annual 1099 forms.
- Process Improvement & Confidentiality: Resolve accounting discrepancies, recommend workflow improvements, maintain digital/physical files, and uphold strict data confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Industry Focus: Background in residential construction, home remodeling, or job-cost accounting is strongly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Quick Books Online and Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets.
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance preferred (equivalent hands-on experience accepted). CPA is not required.
- Core Competencies: Strong knowledge of A/P, A/R, reconciliations, payroll, and general ledger. High attention to detail, time-management skills, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Skills
- Hands-on experience managing project-based customer deposits and subcontractor tracking.
- Familiarity with contractor compliance records (W-9s, 1099s, insurance certs).
- Experience using project management, estimating, or construction software.
