SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

The Director of Educational Technology and Innovations provides strategic leadership and operational oversight in advancing innovative technology solutions that enhance teaching, learning, and student success. This position plays a key role in managing educational technologies, ensuring digital accessibility compliance (Section 508/ADA), integrating AI‑driven tools and platforms, and overseeing student‑facing technical support systems.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general direction from the appropriate level manager, administrator, or designee.

Exercises functional and technical supervision over assigned classified professionals, student staff and related reporting personnel.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
  • Assist the Dean in the coordination of program activities with student services and instructional program personnel as needed; serve on campus and District committees, task forces and other work groups; provide technical expertise concerning the functional area.
  • Assist in budget tracking, procurement, and planning as related to the area of assignment.
  • Assist in the preparation of a variety of statistical and narrative reports; prepare budget reports, annual recap data and special reports, proposals, recommendations and other materials as requested; coordinate and respond to periodic audits.
  • Collaborate with college and district partners to evaluate, implement, and optimize emerging educational technologies.
  • Communicate with other college and district administrators and support personnel, representatives of state agencies, educational institutions, and etc.
  • Lead pilot programs and implementation projects for new instructional technologies.
  • Promote the adoption of innovative instructional technologies to enhance digital pedagogy and student engagement.
  • Assist the Dean in overseeing the implementation and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality/ Augmented Reality (VR/AR), and any other related tools across instruction and administrative areas.
  • Provide and oversee the training and support for faculty and staff on various instructional tools and platforms.
  • Oversee the coordination and delivery of timely, student‑centered technical support services related to instructional technologies (i.e., LMS, ERP) encompassing configuration, integrations, data management, and user support coordination.
  • Oversee the analysis of support ticket data to anticipate and resolve student systemic technical issues, strengthen service delivery, and enhance the student user experience.
  • Ensure that all educational technology tools, digital content, and platforms are fully compliant with federal, state, and local laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Stays abreast of, explores, studies and compares technologies for higher education and teaching and learning and brings those of potential value to the campus community through demonstration and pilot introductions, ensuring that potential users of new or different technology are well informed of advances and changes in technology.
  • Select, train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel; delegate and review assignments and projects; evaluate work products and results; establish and monitor timelines and prioritize work.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of students.
  • Conduct meetings with direct reports to provide information and to discuss and resolve issues and concerns related to daily routines and activities.
  • Exercise good judgment, discretion, and personal initiative in resolving confidential, difficult, and sensitive situations, according to established policies and procedures; use sound judgment in recognizing scope of authority; maintain critical and sensitive information, records, and reports confidentially.
  • Effectively utilize computer applications and equipment in the performance of duties; adapt to changing technologies and learn functionality of new equipment and systems.
