Janitor / Environmental Services (EVS) Aide
The Janitor / Environmental Services (EVS) Aide maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the hospital. This role supports infection prevention, patient satisfaction, and smooth facility operations by ensuring all assigned areas meet established cleanliness, safety, and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities- Clean and disinfect patient rooms, bathrooms, operating rooms, and common areas in accordance with hospital protocols and infection control standards.
- Perform routine and terminal cleaning procedures to support infection prevention and control throughout the facility.
- Empty trash, biohazard waste, and recycling bins in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
- Restock supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, soap, and hand sanitizer in assigned areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors using appropriate equipment, solutions, and techniques.
- Perform floor care duties, including buffing and other specialized floor maintenance tasks.
- Follow proper handling, storage, and disposal procedures for hazardous materials and chemicals.
- Respond promptly to spills, accidents, and urgent cleaning needs to maintain a safe environment.
- Maintain cleaning equipment in good working condition and report any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including safety, infection control, and HIPAA confidentiality standards.
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff, patients, and team members to coordinate cleaning tasks and support patient care.
- Provide customer service oriented support to patients, visitors, and staff by ensuring a clean, welcoming environment.
- Consistently follow established janitorial and environmental service procedures for sanitizing, trash removal, and overall cleanliness of the hospital.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques, infection control, and safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail when cleaning and sanitizing patient care areas.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic, with consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Good time management and organizational skills to complete tasks efficiently.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with staff, patients, and visitors.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and healing healthcare environment.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25-50 pounds safely.
- Ability to push carts and operate cleaning equipment regularly.
- Comfort working with cleaning equipment and chemicals while using proper protective equipment.
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous housekeeping or environmental services experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred.
- Experience with janitorial duties, including mopping, sweeping, sanitizing, and trash removal.
- Experience with floor care, including buffing and polishing floors.
- Customer service oriented approach when working in patient care areas.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced hospital environment with changing priorities.

WorkEnvironment
This role is based in a regulated-temperature hospital environment that is fast-paced and patient-focused. You will work around cleaning chemicals, bodily fluids, and potentially infectious materials, with proper personal protective equipment provided. The position follows a 1st shift schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with rotating weekends, and may occasionally require flexibility to support operational needs. The work involves frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing carts, and operating cleaning equipment in clinical and non-clinical areas.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mission Viejo, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
