Position Overview
Mission Hospital Mission Viejo is seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgery nurse practitioner or physician assistant to join the team in Mission Viejo, California.
ResponsibilitiesUnder the general direction of the Executive Director, Heart and Vascular Institute, the Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) is responsible for supporting the cardiothoracic surgery program to meet the needs of patients, families, staff, and physicians. The NP or PA facilitates coordination of patient care and education while promoting appropriate utilization of resources across the continuum of care.
This role functions as a clinical consultant and resource to staff and departments, assists with patient care, skills validation, and training, and participates in educational activities and quality improvement initiatives to advance patient care and outcomes.
This role will work collaboratively with the surgeon and interdisciplinary care team to support safe perioperative care promoting optimal patient outcomes. The NP or PA will provide direct patient care throughout the perioperative continuum, including pre-operative evaluation, post-operative management, patient and family education, discharge planning, and surgical support as applicable to training, certification, and credentialing.
Qualifications- Full‑time position.
- 2+ years of experience as an NP or PA in cardiothoracic surgery, cardiac surgery, critical care, or a related acute care setting.
- Current knowledge of theory, techniques and practices related to cardiothoracic surgery and perioperative patient care.
- ACNP certification is required.
- Compensation range: $177,516 to $232,107 per year, which may include productivity bonuses, incentives related to quality and performance, hospital/ED call stipends, extra shift incentives, and other forms of cash compensation as applicable to the position. Providers typically receive a CME allowance and other benefits offered by their medical group employer.
