Senior Accountant
We are seeking a dynamic Senior Accountant for an organization in Lenexa, KS that will play an integral role in daily accounting operations, covering a range of responsibilities across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end close activities. Key duties include reviewing and processing vendor invoices with correct general ledger coding, ensuring proper authorization, and timely data entry in Quick Books. The position is expected to maintain organized vendor files with complete W-9 documentation, manage both the accounts payable inbox and vendor communications, and prepare weekly payment runs by check, ACH, or wire, while promptly reconciling vendor statements and resolving discrepancies as they arise.
This role also generates and distributes customer invoices, accurately records and applies incoming payments to the appropriate accounts, and keeps the AR aging report up to date. Responsibilities include following up on past-due balances, communicating with clients to address outstanding payments, processing credit memos, and supporting collections activities by escalating delinquent accounts where necessary.
Additionally, this position supports the month-end close by preparing and recording journal entries, performing reconciliations for key accounts such as bank, AP, AR, and accruals, promptly investigating reconciling items, and working with the team to complete monthly financial reports and close-related adjustments, including accruals and prepaid amortization. Collaboration within the accounting team is essential for meeting reporting deadlines and ensuring the timely delivery of accurate financial information.
