This position is responsible for supporting all worship opportunities (including weekend services and mid‑week worship events) at Hope Grimes under the mission, vision, and values of Lutheran Church of Hope (reference end of document).
The Worship Leader is responsible for planning, leading rehearsal, and executing effective worship services for weekend worship services.
The Worship Leader is also responsible for planning, leading rehearsal, and executing effective worship services for Power Life (Jr. High) + Ignition (Sr. High) at Wednesday night programming, weekend retreats, select classes and gatherings with worship elements, and special events. Also responsible for supervising Student Ministry Worship Leader, once hired.
Additionally, this position requires a high level of musical artistry/talent, strong up-front presence, a heart and passion for students, intuitive leadership skills, organizational skills, adaptability/flexibility/problem‑solving skills, desire to partner with fellow staff, and a heart for Jesus Christ.
- 2+ years leading worship*
- 2+ years working with students & student ministry teams*
- Ability to partner with others in planning and executing an effective worship experience
- Ability to run a rehearsal with a full band (bass, drums, electric guitars, piano, vocalists)
- Ability to lead solo from acoustic guitar
- Ability to lead solo from a piano*
- Proficiency in multiple instruments and ability to give vocal coaching*
- Experience scheduling teams, planning services, and creating chord charts in Planning Center
- Experience creating and editing projects in Ableton Live*

Primary Responsibilities- Provide leadership of Hope Grimes Worship Ministry in conjunction with the staff of Hope Grimes
- Provide coaching, administration and oversight of all worship volunteers at Hope Grimes
- Develop, maintain, and oversee Hope Grimes worship strategies in coordination with Campus Pastor
- Coordinate, oversee, and lead music components of worship for weekend services, retreats, and special events with a high level of energy
- Includes creating tracks, leading rehearsals, coaching team members, all with a high level of preparedness and artistry
- Provide worship coverage as needed at weekend and mid‑week services and events (including: weekly weekend worship, Alpha, funerals, special events, holiday services (Christmas Eve and Day, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter, Thanksgiving Day, VBS, men’s & women’s events))
- Be prepared and on time to lead and facilitate rehearsals, giving all vocalists and instrumentalists specific feedback/coaching as needed
- Engage and communicate with adult volunteers; be present in their lives, pray for them
- Dress appropriately for the job you’re doing + services you’re leading
- Take authority of a room/space with a strong presence up front; leading in the Spirit
- Coordinate, oversee, and lead music components of Student Ministry worship for Wednesday night programming (Powerlife + Ignition), retreats, select classes and gatherings with worship elements, and special events with a high level of energy
- Includes creating tracks, leading rehearsals, coaching students, all with a high level of preparedness and artistry
- Partner with Student Ministry staff to ensure vision alignment
- Student Ministry team presence outside of worship services (help run games, lead small groups, be present outside of music components at services, retreats, and events)
- Display a clear passion to be in relationship with students, engage and lead them verbally and musically both up front and behind the scenes
- Encourage and partner in both the musical and spiritual development of all involved in student worship teams
- Build and equip student leaders; walk alongside them
- Effective care conversations with students as needed
- Pray for and with your students; leading by example
- Facilitate events and gatherings of student worship team; growing disciples outside of Wednesday night programming
- Examples: facilitate Bible studies, musical workshops, songwriting events, team-building activities/social events
- Intentionally spend time with your students outside of ‘normal’ programming
