Position Summary

The YMCA Preschool Site Coordinator works closely with the Child Development Director to maintain a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children ages 0-6. This role ensures the successful delivery of programs and services in line with YMCA Preschool goals, while maintaining compliance with State of California Community Care Licensing requirements. The Site Coordinator will assume the responsibilities of the Department Head in the absence of the Sr.

Program Director, collaborating with parents and staff to develop programs and activities. The role includes overseeing day-to-day operations, supporting staff, and stepping into classroom duties as needed.

Job Responsibilities

  • Program Administration & Compliance
    • Administer the overall operation of the YMCA Preschool program.
    • Support the implementation of YMCA policies, procedures, and preschool safety guidelines.
    • Ensure program quality and facility meet all State of California and NAEYC standards.
    • Maintain records for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
    • Adhere to YMCA policies, including work schedule and ECE program protocols. /li>
    • Focus on enrollment and recruitment, and maintaining 95% – 100% enrollment and waitlist
  • Curriculum & Child Development
    • Develop a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate curriculum focused on social, emotional, cognitive, anti-bias, multicultural, and motor skills development.
    • Track and report participant progress through developmental portfolios.
    • Step into classroom duties as needed.
  • Supervise and provide leadership to program staff.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations for staff.
  • Support and schedule staff and volunteers.
  • Coordinate weekly team check-ins, monthly staff meetings, and consultations with Curriculum Coaches and Mental Health Consultants.
  • Family & Community Engagement
    • Schedule parent-teacher meetings twice a year and additional meetings as needed.
    • Facilitate Parent Advisory Committee meetings as needed.
    • Survey the community to assess preschool program needs.
    • Communicate concerns or incidents to the Child Development Director.
  • Budget & Operations
    • Oversee the purchasing of supplies within budget guidelines.
  • Collaboration & Professional Development
    • Attend and contribute to branch and association-wide activities.
    • Collaborate with all YMCA departments, maintaining a professional and cooperative attitude.
    • Attend required staff meetings and training courses.
  • Participate in branch fundraising and support volunteers during the Annual Support Campaign.

Qualifications

  • Must be 24 years or older.
  • BA in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
  • Site Supervisor Permit from California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC).
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience with infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Completed health screening, immunizations, and TB test clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CCTC Program Director Permit or eligible.
  • Training in NAEYC standards, PITC, Anti-Bias Curriculum, Emergent Curriculum, or Reggio Emilia practices.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, or other languages is a plus.

Salary Description

The hourly rate for this position is $38.00-$41.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and alignment with salary benchmarks for similar roles. Compensation is in accordance with grant funding approval and program budget requirements.
