The primary purpose of this position is to oversee Asheville‑Buncombe‑Madison (ABM) Works high school pre‑apprentices and act as the liaison between educational, economic, and business/industry partners for ABM Works. The Workforce Development Specialist (WDS) will work with business and industry to determine employment needs and coordinate efforts to place student pre‑apprentices in internships and apprenticeships.
Position SummaryFull‑time, regular position. Annual schedule: 12 months. Expected work schedule: standard, Monday‑Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Anticipated hours per week: 40.

Asheville, NC.
- Facilitate and coordinate business/industry/education meetings, overseeing recruitment and retention of students and business partners.
- Develop relationships with students and families to guide students to success.
- Coordinate and oversee support services.
- Contribute to the College Vision, Mission, Values, and RISE statement.
- Support workforce diversity in all its aspects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate degree.
- One year of full‑time or equivalent educational administrative or other relevant leadership experience.
- Experience working in a school system.
- Career development or related experience.
- Experience working with high school students.
- Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language.
- Upload the relevant transcript that correlates to the degree requirement outlined in the minimum requirement or preferred qualifications. The transcript must show the courses taken and the degree conferred.
- If selected for hire, official sealed transcripts from an accredited institution must be received a minimum of two business weeks before the first day of work. Transcripts outside of the United States must be accompanied by an evaluation completed by a NACES‑recognized agency and received by Human Resources at least two weeks prior to the first day of work.
- Failure to comply may result in the withdrawal of the job offer.
