Part-Time Bilingual Instructor – ESL (Spanish-English or Creole-English)

Job Description:

The Plainfield Public Library is looking for a part-time, bilingual instructor with strong organizational, instructional, and customer service skills. Instructor will lead ESL classes while providing support to the other instructional staff and volunteers. Responsibilities include creating instructional materials, maintaining records, creating class schedules and report production. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging and effective ESL instruction to adult learners
• Create lesson plans and instructional materials
• Support and collaborate with volunteers and instructional staff
• Maintain accurate attendance and course records
• Assist with the creation of class schedules and program reports
• Utilize Microsoft Office Products and LMS platforms such as Canvas and Microsoft Teams
• Coordinate and maintain a schedule of classes, appointments, and programs

Required Qualifications:

• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish-English or Creole-English
• Weekday Evening Availability
• Strong teaching or instructional experience
• Ability to deliver content creatively in both in-person and online settings
• Familiarity with LMS: specifically, Canvas, & Microsoft Teams
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate attendance records and course documentation.
• Maintain a schedule of technology-related appointments, classes, and programs
• Self-motivated and able to work independently
• NJ Teaching Certificate
• Experience with Canvas or other LMS platforms
• Experience with Smart Board technology
• Experience with Zoom and other conferencing tools

This is a two-year, part-time, grant-funded position with the potential for extension. Benefits are not included for grant-funded roles.

Pay: $25.00 per hour(includes paid prep time)
