Position Summary

The Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of Work-Based Learning (WBL) placements, including audits, tracking, and maintaining records for current and potential WBL placements, and growing WBL opportunities for students. Responsibilities include growth of pre-apprenticeships and apprenticeships with and without grant support. The role involves public speaking, formal presentations to supporters and potential partners, and may include speaking at commission meetings or governmental events and panel discussions.

A large portion of time will be spent in student and community interaction. Direct supervision responsibilities include establishing work schedules, signing time sheets and leave requests, and conducting performance reviews.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain updated database for industry partnerships, contacts, and company profiles; manage the WBL SharePoint site; share access for faculty and staff with digital WBL forms.
  • Represent the WBL department in meetings, panel discussions, and community events.
  • Market and recruit students and industry partnerships via career fairs, open houses, and on-site visits; assist students and divisions in establishing a base of participating employers for WBL opportunities (e.g., WBL class for credit).
  • Promote and participate in special events assigned to WBL (e.g., National Apprenticeship Week, Youth Apprenticeship Week, pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship signing events, student summer camps and for-credit courses).
  • Coordinate and launch activities and data needs for all grants received for WBL; engage with high school CTE programs; collaborate with school counselors, career development coordinators, career coaches, and other school staff to ensure meaningful WBL activities; direct the team, engage new employers, and work with prospective and participating students.
  • Supervise Specialists, including performance evaluations, coordinating work schedules, signing time records, communicating expectations, and establishing staff/team meeting schedules. Travel may be required for on-site staff visits.
  • Contribute to the College Vision, Mission, Values, and RISE statement; support workforce diversity in all aspects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • One year of full-time or equivalent experience building strong relationships with community partners and groups.
  • One year of full-time or equivalent experience within a collegiate system or a K-12 environment.
  • Experience working with data systems.
  • One year of full-time or equivalent experience coordinating projects.
  • Experience with Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • One year of full-time or equivalent direct supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, business, vocational services, or related field.
  • One year of full-time or equivalent experience working within the NCCCS.
  • One year of full-time equivalent experience working with students with diverse needs.
  • One year of full-time equivalent experience with apprenticeships or other WBL programs.
  • One year of full-time equivalent experience giving presentations.
  • Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language.
