Career Coach & Supportive Services Navigator, MTAJ

Position Summary:

Provides onsite and online career coaching and supportive services for MTAJ participants to help them enter, persist in, and complete education and training. The position assists students with career exploration, job search preparation, resumes, and connections to employers while also coordinating practical supports such as transportation assistance, referrals, and access to college and community resources. The role does not carry a primary education navigator caseload, but is cross trained to assist with enrollment, intake, and navigation support when participant volume is high or team coverage is needed.

Duties
  • Provides in-person and online career coaching, job search assistance, resume and cover letter support, and career pathway guidance for MTAJ participants.
  • Coordinates supportive services for students, including gas cards, bus passes, laptop checkout, warm referrals, and connections to on- and off-campus resources that reduce barriers to persistence.
  • Collaborates with college departments, DHHS, workforce staff, and community partners to ensure students receive coordinated services and accurate information.
  • Maintains required records, tracking logs, spreadsheets, and participant documentation related to services, referrals, and student progress.
  • Supports employer engagement and student connection activities such as job fairs, hiring events, outreach efforts, and introductions to living-wage employers.
  • Provides backup enrollment, intake, and assessment support when Education Navigator caseloads are high or team coverage is needed.
  • Advances the College’s Vision, Mission, Values, and RISE commitments; supports workforce diversity; and performs other duties assigned within the scope of the role.
  • Contributes to the College Vision, Mission, Values, and RISE statement.
  • Supports workforce diversity in all its aspects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Associate degree in Social work, counseling, human services, career development, education, community health, or related field.
  • One year of part-time or equivalent work experience in career coaching, case support, student services, workforce development, or a related public-facing role.
  • Experience working with diverse populations in higher education, community-based organizations, government, or workforce settings.
  • Experience providing direct customer service, participant support, or referral coordination.
  • Experience maintaining documentation, spreadsheets, or program records with attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting adults in a community college or workforce development environment.
  • Experience with trauma-informed practices and supportive service coordination.
  • Experience working with justice-involved students, older adults, or other populations facing barriers to education and employment.
  • Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language.
