Position: Housing - Auditor

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Weatherization Auditor conducts residential energy audits and home inspections for program eligible households. The audits focus on energy efficient diagnostics, health & safety inspections and establishing possible insulation improvements that are funded through multiple federal, state, and local funding sources. This position ensures compliance with funding regulations, works closely with contractors and ensures projects are completed safely, on time, and within program guidance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs in depth Energy Audits and safety inspections in customer homes for weatherization and home repair. Energy Audits involve diagnostic testing, blower door testing, duct blaster, room balancing, worst case combustion testing, combustion appliance testing, and other indoor air quality testing to assure home is safe for the occupant.
  • Enter audit information into software program and generate work orders for contractors to complete improvements.
  • Review scopes of work, cost estimates, and project timelines for accuracy and feasibility. Ensure quality control standards are maintained across all projects. Address complex construction or homeowner issues and approve change orders as necessary. Support outreach efforts to promote program awareness and participation.
  • Complete job reporting requirements.
  • Evaluate job site and work-in-progress for compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Coordinate, organize, and participate in on-site weatherization and home repair work.
  • Maintain a professional, positive and courteous demeanor. Must have an ability to work harmoniously with other employees and the public when performing job duties.
  • Act responsibly to protect and maintain confidential information.
  • Operate Agency vehicle, driving defensively to job sites in a safe manner following agency policies and safety procedures.
  • Prepare equipment inventory and gasoline usage reports along with minor maintenance repairs, as required.
  • Represents the Agency in the community as appropriate to the role.
  • Willing to accept and perform other work or special projects as assigned for the purpose of improving agency programs.

    REQUIREMENTS Experience and Skill Requirements

    Preferred 2-5 years of experience in residential carpentry or weatherization activities or related fields. Good written communication skills. Use Microsoft Office applications and other computer software as applicable to the position.

    Education and Knowledge Requirements
    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Knowledge of building construction.
    • Experience in working with contractors.
    • Must complete all program required training/ certifications within 6 months of hire.
    • Must possess or obtain within 6 months: OSHA 10 Hour safety and Lead Smart Renovator Certifications;
      Building Science Principal (BSP), Building Analyst Technician (BA-T), Building Analyst Professional (BA-P) and Maine Fuel Board Oil & Propane Limited Energy Auditor Technician; and other certifications as applicable to position.
    Other Requirements
    • Must have a valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record per the program, have reliable transportation, provide proof of insurance, and must be insurable under agency policy.
